Solitary Hotel

Solitary Hotel

An installation comprising of a series of three-dimensional sketches inspired by the music ofSamuel Barber, an American composer 1910-81.  The work is based on ideas within a song he composed called ‘Solitary Hotel’, which was written between 1968 and 1969.  The lyrics are by James Joyce from his book  ‘Ulysses’ and taken from a passage where the character Stephen suggests a scene to Bloom in response to his usual off beat ideas – unfortunately the scene brings other sad and desolate thoughts to Blooms mind.
